[H]ere is an update to the recent report about the ‘botched’ sterilizations performed on poor women in India. Thirteen women are dead, but some 122 more are being treated for complications. Authorities have arrested the doctor in charge–R. K. Gupta will now face trial. While the population of India is ever increasing, the plight of these poor women, who receive about $10 each to undergo sterilization, should be all over the western media.
