June 22, 2009 — IS THE TIDE turning for Barack Obama? According to a recent Rasmussen Report, Obama’s approval rating has now sunk into negative territory.

Thirty-four percent (34%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. That’s the President’s lowest rating to date and the first time the Presidential Approval Index has fallen below zero for Obama.

Obama continually blames his problems on the Bush administration, but voters are slowly realizing that not ALL O’s woes can be places at W’s doorstep. Most of us prefer not to “own” major corporations. We just want to live peaceful lives without government intrusion. Rasmussen’s current numbers reflect the shift in mood:

Despite strong public opposition, the president has pushed hard for bailouts for General Motors and Chrysler, both now in structured bankruptcies aimed at keeping them in business. The government has taken substantial ownership stakes in both companies in exchange for federal bailout money, but 80% of U.S. voters want the government to sell its stake in GM and Chrysler as soon as possible.
