While most who follow bird flu reports are aware of the current work taking place in the Netherlands, many are unaware of the scary research going on here in the US. The University of Wisconsin is a case in point. Note that the security approved for the lab is BSL3 (biosafety level 3). Perhaps I’m wrong, but shouldn’t research into a virus that has shown a 60% lethality rate be conducted in a BSL4 Lab?
