MAYBE I’m old fashioned, but I expect governors to keep regular office hours. Apparently, Mark Sanford of South Carolina disagrees. Sanford has a habit of disappearing–without explanation or advance warning. And now, he’s done it again.
Sanford got rid of his security force on Thursday in favor of time alone. He then missed spending Father’s Day with his family. In fact, his wife reportedly said Sanford wanted to “get away from the kids”.
Sanford’s cell phone is turned off, and he’s all but disappeared. Gee, I hope South Carolina doesn’t have an emergency while their governor is “get[ting] away from the kids”! NBC called the absent Sanford’s offices for a quote, and they replied that Sanford is hiking the Appalachian Trail and that he likes “to go out of pocket for a few days at a time to clear his head.” Sheesh
