Repost of an old dream….

In very early 2009, I had a very disturbing dream that I described in a post from March 22 of that year.

Since that time, I’ve watched and waited, knowing that Washington DC must surely be in the path of the LORD God Almighty’s arm. This divine arm may soon sweep across much of the eastern seaboard, including Washington D.C. and even New York City. Considering the near panic that we saw in the public and in media following the recent earthquake centered in Mineral, Virginia, the potential for unbridled panic–if Irene does sweep the coast–is very high.

Of course, that 5.9 (some claim actually a 6.0, but such a label would have automatically tripped major alarms, so it was downgraded) may have damaged both the highly symbolic National Cathedral and the Washington Monument. God’s arm is pulling down the high places, signalling the fulfillment of His many promises to both the Church and to Israel.

Isaiah 59 is one that I read just today as part of the ‘Read the Bible in 90 Days’ program (yes, I’m about a book behind!). I must include the entire chapter here, for its message, though intended originally for Israel, speaks also to us, those who live in ‘the west’, in ‘the islands’:

1 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save,
nor his ear too dull to hear.
2 But your iniquities have separated
you from your God;
your sins have hidden his face from you,
so that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are stained with blood,
your fingers with guilt.
Your lips have spoken falsely,
and your tongue mutters wicked things.
4 No one calls for justice;
no one pleads a case with integrity.
They rely on empty arguments, they utter lies;
they conceive trouble and give birth to evil.
5 They hatch the eggs of vipers
and spin a spider’s web.
Whoever eats their eggs will die,
and when one is broken, an adder is hatched. [Curious language here…I can’t help thinking about the World Wide Web – the language implies that evil arises from this ‘web’]
6 Their cobwebs are useless for clothing;
they cannot cover themselves with what they make.
Their deeds are evil deeds,
and acts of violence are in their hands.
7 Their feet rush into sin;
they are swift to shed innocent blood.
They pursue evil schemes;
acts of violence mark their ways.
8 The way of peace they do not know;
there is no justice in their paths.
They have turned them into crooked roads;
no one who walks along them will know peace.9 So justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness;
for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
10 Like the blind we grope along the wall,
feeling our way like people without eyes.
At midday we stumble as if it were twilight;
among the strong, we are like the dead.
11 We all growl like bears;
we moan mournfully like doves.
We look for justice, but find none;
for deliverance, but it is far away.

12 For our offenses are many in your sight,
and our sins testify against us.
Our offenses are ever with us,
and we acknowledge our iniquities:
13 rebellion and treachery against the LORD,
turning our backs on our God,
inciting revolt and oppression,
uttering lies our hearts have conceived.
14 So justice is driven back,
and righteousness stands at a distance;
truth has stumbled in the streets,
honesty cannot enter. [This certainly describes Washington D.C.!]
15 Truth is nowhere to be found,
and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. [Anyone who stands up for Christ is marginalized as a kook!]

The LORD looked and was displeased
that there was no justice.
16 He saw that there was no one,
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene;
so his own arm achieved salvation for him,
and his own righteousness sustained him. [Christ is pictured here, although neither the humanists nor most in Israel recognize Him]
17 He put on righteousness as his breastplate,
and the helmet of salvation on his head;
he put on the garments of vengeance
and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak. [The One who saves us is now going to WAR]
18 According to what they have done,
so will he repay
wrath to his enemies
and retribution to his foes;
he will repay the islands their due. [emphasis mine]
19 From the west, people will fear the name of the LORD, [emphasis mine – I pray this means that many will be saved in the USA]
and from the rising of the sun, they will revere his glory.
For he will come like a pent-up flood [water]
that the breath of the LORD drives along. [Wind]

20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion,
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,”
declares the LORD.

21 “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the LORD.

Here’s the first bits of my 2009 post. It’s important to point out that Elizabeth Taylor made an odd appearance in the dream. Taylor died on March 23, 2011, almost exactly 2 years after I posted the dream in 2009.

Understand clearly, please, that I do NOT consider myself a prophet in the Old Testament sense. I am merely telling you what I dreamed…and that 2009 dream clings to me even today, as fresh as if I’d dreamt it last night. And I can still hear that voice that spoke to me as I woke over two and a half years ago, as clearly now as if the speaker sits behind me and to the right, waiting to speak again.

RECENTLY, I HAD A DREAM. Now, I’ve been experiencing what I refer to as ‘important’ dreams for most of my life. They occur when I least expect it, and the subject matter is rarely cheerful.

Take for instance, a dream that came to me on January 9, 2009. I recorded the dream in detail in my computer diary immediately upon waking. I then sent this description to two friends:

I dreamt that I was visiting Washington DC — perhaps I lived close to it. I remember seeing large books in a major, domed building that looked like a mausoleum — in fact, a cemetery was also housed inside and out. Honored dead.
